Middle School Math Teacher
Job Description
Responsible for teaching students in grades 5-8. Duties include creating lesson plans, teaching fundamental subjects clearly and effectively, working well with families and other staff, monitoring student progress, enforcing school rules, promoting good leadership skills, and following school procedures. Typical class size is 16 students.
Schedule
10 months; full-time employment, Monday - Friday; Typically school days and hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Provide for the education, care, safety, and well-being of all children in the group
- Possess and exhibit extensive knowledge of content areas
- Plan and instruct classes that align with the Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards and incorporate a program of study to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
- Create a classroom environment that is healthy, safe, and conducive to learning
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities by taking all necessary and reasonable precautions
- Oversee students during recess, lunch, and other activities
- Communicate with families regarding student progress
- Enforce school rules and encourage good behavior and leadership in and out of the classroom
- Meet the children’s emotional, social, physical, and intellectual needs
- Maintain a cooperative relationship with children, co-workers, and parents
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training; Participate in ongoing professional development
- Follow personnel policies of Hope Academy.
- Interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Perform any related duties as assigned by the Center Director or Head of School.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid teaching license or Bachelor’s Degree with 18 hours in the subject area being taught
- Meets required standards, including a clear fingerprinting and background check
- Obtain or have certification in CPR and First Aid (will be provided, if needed)
- Experience working with children
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
