Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, utilizing personal experiences to inspire hope and motivation.
- Assist clients in navigating systems related to mental health services, addiction counseling, and community resources.
- Employ crisis management techniques to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support during crises.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help clients set and achieve personal goals.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop individualized recovery plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Mentor clients by sharing insights from personal recovery experiences while respecting confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
Experience
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Previous experience in social work or behavioral health settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies and addiction counseling practices is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in mentoring or supporting individuals facing mental health challenges is an asset.
- Knowledge of community resources related to mental health services is beneficial.
