Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and possess the ability to support others on their recovery journey. This role involves providing guidance, encouragement, and resources to individuals seeking to improve their mental health and well-being. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in fostering a supportive environment that promotes recovery and resilience.

Duties

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, utilizing personal experiences to inspire hope and motivation.
  • Assist clients in navigating systems related to mental health services, addiction counseling, and community resources.
  • Employ crisis management techniques to de-escalate situations and provide immediate support during crises.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to help clients set and achieve personal goals.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop individualized recovery plans tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Mentor clients by sharing insights from personal recovery experiences while respecting confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.

Experience

  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
  • Previous experience in social work or behavioral health settings is preferred.
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies and addiction counseling practices is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in mentoring or supporting individuals facing mental health challenges is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources related to mental health services is beneficial.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
