Job Description
The Hope College TRIO Upward Bound Program invites qualified and interested individuals to apply:
POSITIONS: Elective Course Instructors
DATES June 11 and 12 Staff Training
June 16-July 24 Classes
PROGRAM: TRIO Upward Bound is a pre-college preparatory program designed to help eligible students successfully graduate high school and pursue post-secondary education.
Summer programming includes skill development through academic courses, career and college exploration in addition to social/cultural enrichment activities.
UB Summer Elective courses provide students with valuable educational opportunities outside of the academic classroom. Electives are engaging, develop/increase awareness about commitment, and provide the chance to explore interests or activities previously not considered, course skill development supported by social-emotional learning space.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach 3-5 hours per week.
- Develop age-appropriate and grade-relevant instruction.
- Plan, develop, and implement course curriculum.
- Complete midterm and final evaluations on each student.
- Attend and guide Class presentation at UB Live on Thursday, July 24.
- Instructors will be required to turn in a course syllabus
Qualifications
One (1) year or more experience relating to Art, Dance, Sports, Wellness., Cooking
Experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
Attend orientation and pre-planning meetings.
Physical Demands
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves lifting over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities with students. In the case of temporary or permanent condition(s) that require(s) accommodation(s), reasonable accommodation(s) may be requested.
