Hope Community Center is a peer-run organization that provides recovery services including social support, learning opportunities, leadership training, and creative expression for anyone with a lived experience of mental illness or substance use disorder.
The areas of focus for HCC classes and activities are wellness, arts, social/recreation, advocacy, and community connection. The goal of services at HCC is to empower those we serve to live healthy and meaningful lives in the community.
Position Description: Peer Support Specialist
Position Summary: A part-time position for an individual with lived experience of mental illness and/or substance use disorder and desire to support others in their recovery
Qualifications:
- Lived experience of mental illness or substance use disorder and willingness to self-identify
- Demonstrates respect, tolerance, empathy and good personal boundaries
- Certified Peer Recovery Supporter or completes training to obtain certification within six months of hiring
Core Responsibilities:
- Supports members in their recovery
- Serves as a role model and ambassador for Hope Community Center
- Leads programming
- Participates in development of additional programming
- Participates in outreach, special events, and outings as needed
