Job Title: Front Desk Receptionist
Location: HOPE Community Medicine – San Augustine, TX
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00AM - 3:00PM
Summary:
The Front Desk Receptionist, under the supervision of the Front Desk Manager, is responsible for the general operations of the medical office on a day-to-day basis. This role ensures accurate records of incoming patients and delivers excellent customer service.
Expectations:
- Ensure services are in compliance with professional standards and state/federal regulations
- Work flexible or extended hours as needed
- Collaborate with providers, nurses, and assistants
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies outlined in the employee handbook
- Demonstrate awareness of and alignment with the mission of HOPE Community Medicine to provide healthcare access and support to all community members
Job Duties:
- Answer telephones, greet patients, schedule appointments, and update patient records
- Offer eligibility screening to all patients
- Scan documentation for eligibility
- Check patients in and out
- Verify insurance at each visit
- Collect co-pays and complete daily deposits
- Process paperwork, review forms for errors, and maintain administrative records
- Follow strict patient privacy protocols
- Maintain a friendly and professional environment
- Keep front office and lobby clean and hazard-free
- Notify Front Desk Manager of supply or equipment needs
- Translate between English and Spanish, if bilingual
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
Skills:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate computer proficiency
- Typing speed of 20 WPM or more
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Strong customer service orientation
- Organized, dependable, and prompt
- Able to build rapport with diverse patient populations
- Proper grammar and spelling
- 10-key calculator proficiency
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and push up to 20 pounds (on wheels)
- Must be able to hear phone and in-person conversations and speak clearly
- Must have sufficient vision to read computer screens, memos, and documentation
- Must possess high manual dexterity
- Must be able to bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist, turn, and use fingers and hands as needed
