Marketing and Community Engagement Manager
Hope Connections for Cancer Support is an organization dedicated to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone. We are looking for a creative and organized Marketing & Community Engagement Manager who is enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
In this role, you will help grow our participant pool as well as government and corporate donors by developing effective campaigns and outreach through community events in collaboration with our partners. You will also oversee programming devoted to combatting race-based disparities in cancer outcomes.
Employment: Full-time on-site position – reporting to our Development Director.
Work Location: Hope Connections is located in Bethesda and Landover, Maryland.
Responsibilities:
Marketing
· Develop strategies and tactics for effectively marketing Hope Connections for Cancer Support’s brand and messaging to respective audiences.
· Build integrated marketing campaign plans and timelines to promote participant growth and fundraising, including growing our corporate donor constituency.
· Develop the marketing work plan and calendar.
· Manage social media accounts (X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and editorial calendar(s).
· Create content for ads, emails/newsletters, blogs, press releases, social media, video scripts, byline articles, and websites.
· Develop monthly newsletters and persona-based emails.
· Create and execute communications campaigns using digital and traditional channels.
· Perform partner outreach and cross-promotional opportunities to build relationships that enhance our reach and engagement.
· Perform regular website content updates and/or audits.
· Create print and digital marketing collateral.
· Monitor, analyze, and communicate campaign results based on established KPIs.
Community Outreach:
· Plan, prepare materials, and conduct outreach for at least 25 community events annually, including educational programs, health fairs, and cancer prevention events (in person and virtual) in collaboration with community partners. Includes some evening and weekend work.
· Expand partnership and sponsorship lists with government leaders, the corporate community, the grassroots community, hospitals, and faith-based partners in Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Frederick Counties.
· Manage photo inventory of events, including a written recap of community events and archive materials in CRM to create accurate recordkeeping.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
· 3-5 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, and/or public relations.
· Exceptional writing and editing skills; strict attention to detail.
· Experience managing digital content (public-facing social media accounts and ad campaigns).
· Strong multi-tasking experience, including prioritizing and managing projects on time and within budget.
· Knowledge of print and digital design requirements utilizing best practices.
· Strong collaborator and team player.
· Positive attitude and passion for reaching shared goals.
Technical Skills:
· Search Engine Optimization and Website Marketing.
· Knowledge of email management programs (MailChimp, HubSpot, Hootsuite), Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Slack, and Teams.
· Canva or other digital design software.
· Familiarity with CRMs.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Tools.
Salary and Benefits

Our hybrid, in-person, and virtual programs serve over 4000 people with cancer and their loved ones per year.
