Title: Trainer
Program(s) and Location: Administration (Sacramento, CA)
Schedule: Full-time non-exempt, 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
Pay rate: $30.00/hour

Position Description:
The Trainer is responsible for the oversight of the various training components for the entire agency. This position consists of coordinating trainings for new hires and the on-going training for all staff. This position delivers the actual trainings as well as coordinates and facilitates contracted trainers. This position researches potential training options for the agency. The Trainer is the point person and coordinates internships for students with their academic institutions. The Trainer interfaces with contracted funding sources (e.g. DBHS) when training issues are present. This position is the liaison with DBHS regarding 5150 training for designated staff as well as cultural competency training. The Trainer is responsible for overseeing the approved Evidence Based Practices approved by Sacramento County and providing mandatory reports. These include but are not limited to: Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and Strength Based Case Management. The Trainer oversees the tracking and organization of training attendance and sign-in sheets.
The Trainer is responsible for improving the productivity of the agency’s employees by working with Program Heads to identify training gaps. This position assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. This includes maximizing the use of RELIAS and implementing mandatory assigned trainings through this platform. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Directs the design, planning and implementation of corporate training programs aligned with the objectives and strategy of the agency.
- Collaborates with functional management teams to assess ongoing and future training and development needs as well as effectiveness of established programs.
- Develops a program delivery schedule that provides training as needed and in locations that work for participants.
- Provides engaging communications about program information to encourage participation and highlight the value and benefits of training.
- Develops new training techniques and suggest enhancement to existing training programs.
- Oversees and establishes relationships with vendors to provide additional outside training programs.
- Use performance reviews and skills gap analyses to identify training needs per department, team and individual
- Plan training programs based on business goals
- Oversee learning activities, curriculum and resources
- Evaluate the results of learning courses
- Implement coaching sessions and mentorship programs to establish a culture of continuous learning
- Recommend new training methods (including e-learning courses and game-based platforms)
Education and/or Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience as a trainer, conducting trainings
- Three (3) years of full-time experience in a mental health setting.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and knowledge of group principles.
- Work experience with persons who have mental health disorders and substance use disorders and understanding of the population experiencing homelessness.
- In-depth understanding of traditional and modern training methods (including workshops, simulations, e-learning and coaching)
- Experience organizing training activities in a corporate environment
- Hands-on experience with project management and budgeting
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Strong presentation skills.
- Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
