Classroom Assistant Teacher
Summary of Position: The Assistant in the classroom is an active member of the teaching team. This individual is responsible for supervising, interacting and caring for children 16 mons-5 yrs. old in cooperation with the lead teacher and classroom aides. This individual is responsible for welcoming families into the classroom, caring for and interacting with the children, dismissing children to their authorized pick up person, tending to children's physical and developmental needs and daily classroom cleaning duties as assigned.
General requirements:
· Must be at least 18 years old
· Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds
· Must agree to a background check
Education and Experience:
Education
- Must have a high school diploma
- 8 semester hours of approved in-service training in the area of child development or related area
- ·Child Development Associate credential from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition or an Accelerated Early Childhood Certificate
- Bachelor degree in any field
- Trained in CPR and First Aid, preferred but will train
Experience
· With a high school diploma, 1 year or 2080 hours as an aide or student intern
The Role of the Assistant Teacher is:
· To assist the teacher in implementing the daily activities of the classroom
· To be a positive role model in the classroom
· To assist in other areas of the program as needed to support the quality and safety of the program
The Responsibilities of the Assistant Teacher are:
· To always supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children
- to give breaks and supervise children during napping and bathroom breaks
· Assist in the set up and implementing the daily program as directed by the Lead teacher
· Assist in maintaining cleanliness of space including sweeping, vacuuming and cleaning
· Assist in maintaining safety and cleanliness of supplies and materials including sanitizing toys and materials on a regular basis
· Assist with decorating the room including bulletin boards
· Attend Classroom Team meetings & General Staff in-services and meetings
· Be familiar with state regulations as well as with program policies and procedures for Hope for Kids Childcare Center
Compensation: pay rate determined by the amount of education completed and the experience acquired. Fulltime employees are eligible for Health Benefits and PTO after 6 months of service.

Pay: $14.06 - $15.82 per hour
