Hope For Youth is looking to hire a Caseworker for our Therapeutic Foster Care Program in Amityville! Hope For Youth is a nonprofit organization striving to provide positive outcomes for children, adolescents, and families for over 50 years! The Therapeutic Foster Care Program (TFC) at Hope for Youth has a full time Caseworker position available. The foster care program has contracts with Nassau and Suffolk Departments of Social Services and Probation. The program serves youth from newborn up through the age of 21 in foster homes located in the Suffolk and Nassau area.
To be a successful Caseworker you must be ready, willing, and able to do the following always:
- Function within Agency's policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual, program guide and applicable codes of conduct.
- Provide support to the foster family- i.e.: the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary in order for them to maintain the child in their home.
- Achieve successful outcomes within the guidelines outlined in NYS and HFY policy and procedure (shared).
- Complete all necessary reports, paperwork and forms as outlined in the program guide
- Attend trainings and professional development as assigned
- Attend meetings as assigned
- Perform other resulting and necessary work to meet the needs and requirements of the clients, the program, Hope For Youth, oversight agency and any other regulatory obligations
How you will generally spend your time in this job:
- Field and collateral contacts
- Documentation and related paperwork
- Staff meetings, supervision, treatment team conferences.
- Training and staff development
To qualify for this job you need to be or have at minimum:
- BSW Required, MSW preferred
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with children and adolescents and families or related field
- Valid NYS driver's license in good standing
- Computer knowledge
- Be available to manage crisis and support clients/foster families via phone
- Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing/sitting for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, ongoing access to reliable vehicle and driving own vehicle for work
