What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nassau County Juvenile Justice Services: MDFT Therapist position at Hope for Youth?
The Juvenile Justice Services Program consists of case management, restorative justice conferences and clinical services for up to 40 youth comprised of PINS, Juvenile Offender/Juvenile Delinquents, JD-Raise the Age, and Adolescent Offenders as referred by Nassau County Probation Department. The program design offers family focused treatment services that have been shown to be effective in addressing problems associated with risk of delinquency.
Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) is a SAMSA approved evidence-based treatment model that was developed to work with adolescents with substance abuse and behavior problems. The purpose of the model is to eliminate the adolescent's substance abuse, reduce/eliminate oppositional behaviors seen in school and in the community, and to improve overall family functioning.
The MDFT therapist will develop a comprehensive clinical treatment plan for each client and family based upon the intake information and various assessments. The therapist will provide individual clinical services to a caseload of up to 10 clients at any time and the program will service up to 40 clinical cases in total annually.
To be a successful MDFT therapist you must be ready, willing, and able to do the following always:
- Function within the policies and procedures as outlined in program practice guide and employee manual.
- Adhere to state regulations and applicable code of conduct.
- Work within an interdisciplinary team to assist clients in their overall functioning
- Ensure that service delivery is in a trauma informed, culturally and linguistically competent manner.
- Use the MDFT model to conduct Individual and Family therapy
- Attend case-related meetings if possible or present a report.
- Attend trainings and professional development as assigned and attend meetings as assigned and
- required.
- Provide in home/community and in office treatment.
- Should be willing and able to be trained in an array of Evidence Based Interventions, especially the MDFT model.
- Perform other resulting and necessary work to meet the needs and requirements of the clients, the program, Hope For Youth, oversight agency and any other regulatory obligations
To qualify for this job you need to be or have at minimum:
- LMSW/LCSW/LMHC/LMFT
- 1 year experience working with children or adolescents
- A Valid NYS Driver's License in good standing
- Computer knowledge and able to use electronic records.
- Physical Requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing/sitting for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, driving own vehicle
