What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Staff (full and part time available) position at Hope Haven?
Summer camp staff work in teams of three with small groups of youth of up to 12 campers where they provide structured activities focused on making developmental, social, and academic progress. Activities include arts & crafts, music therapy, STEM programs, health, and wellness programs, etc.
Summer camp programs serve individuals predominantly ages 3 - 22 with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, developmental delay, muscular dystrophy, and other various syndromes. All services take place on-campus.
Permanent employment may be available after summer camp.
Description of Responsibilities
- Supervise and support participants during all activities.
- Promote safety and respect among all participants, team members and families.
- Ensure that a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by implementing appropriate strategies to support participants manage their behavior.
- Facilitate and prepare materials for activities and lessons.
- Respond to the individual needs of children and establish relationships with each child by working with the participants during activities.
- Supervise and assist participant’s toileting and first aid needs.
- Provide and /or assist with the safe transportation of participants on field trips in company van.
- Clean the facility and ensure the safe storage of equipment as directed.
- Monitor and evaluate participants to provide feedback for the client’s individual development plan goals.
- Complete all required documentation and follow all DCF policy and procedures.
Administrative Duties
- Check and respond to Hope Mail daily.
- Maintain communication with colleagues.
- Participate in team trainings and meetings.
- Maintain credentials needed to perform job responsibilities.
- Identify and participate in professional and personal growth opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Sight and sound supervision
- Bending, kneeling, and lifting 30 pounds
- DCF 45-hour training certification is required and can be obtained during employment.
- Technology skills
- Criteria for driving is minimum 21 years of age
- Valid Florida Driver’s license
- Transportation Safety Training
- DOE Physical and Drug Screening
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 22 – 40 per week
