Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting patients with behavioral health challenges, providing care and assistance to young men in a detention center setting. This position requires a strong understanding of case management, behavior management, and client assessment to ensure the well-being of our youth.
Requirements: Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related human services degree; licensed or certified as: : CAC-AD,LCADC, LGPC, LMSW,LCPC, LCSW-C, LGMFT, LGADC, LGPAT, Psychology Associate
Responsibilities
- Conduct supportive individual counseling sessions
- Provide crisis intervientions and suicide assessments to clients in need
- Conduct brief intake assessments for further treatment recommendatons
- Provide support in behavior management techniques to promote positive outcomes.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and engage patients in therapeutic activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate care and services.
Experience
- Previous experience working with youth and or co-occuring disordered clients
- Familiarity with forensics is a plus!
- Knowledge of case management practices and client assessment techniques.
- Understanding of behavior management strategies and their application in clinical settings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively self-manage time, work within deadlines and organized
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- Exhibits punctuality to work, attendance, meetings, trainings and other assigned duties
