Substance Abuse/Mental Health Counselor

Overview
We are looking for a part-time or full-time licensed or certified behavioral health clinician to provide on-site services with adolescent males in a juvenile detention facility in Cheltenham, Maryland. This can be daytime, evening or weekend hours.

Licenses & preferences:

• 2 or more years working preferably with young adults or adolescents with behavioral health and or substance abuse diagnosis
• MUST meet licensing requirements per State boards:
• Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselors: CAC-AD,LCADC, LGPC, LMSW,LCPC, LCSW-C, LGMFT, LGADC, LGPAT, LCPAT, Psychology Associate, Licensed Psychologist

Responsibilities:

• Conduct brief intake assessments on youth entering the facility
• Facilitate psychoeducational group counseling
• Make accurate timely and legible entries in patient record, adhering to both clinical and facility policy and procedures.
• See clients for brief crisis intervention services, supportive counseling and or suicide risk assessment
• Develop, maintain, and present interventions to patients.
• Use culturally sensitive trauma informed and age appropriate therapeutic strategies.
• Demonstrates, promotes and practices diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in relation to clients and staff through respect and understanding achieved through training, individual supervision and Agency cultural activities.

Skills:

• Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively self-manage time, work within deadlines and organized
• Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
• Computer skills, organizational and problem solving skills required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others required.
• Exhibits punctuality to work, attendance, meetings, trainings and other assigned duties.
