What you will bring to our team:
A DSP must understand the different needs of individuals with disabilities. As a DSP you must have the ability to exercise flexibility and assertiveness, have a positive work ethic, problem solve, and navigate challenging situations effectively. A DSP must also be able to work without direct supervision.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Must not be disqualified by criminal background studies.
- Meet the physical requirements as outlined in this position description and physical assessment form (pushing/pulling, lifting, bending, etc.).
- Able to read and write in English.
- Able to document information electronically.
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides care to individuals served in our community. The people we serve are vulnerable children in need of support in their daily activities.
The right person for this position would be eager to help in the following areas:
Residential Services:
- Assisting individuals with dressing, grooming, hygiene, and other daily living functions.
- Assisting individuals with bedtime routines, administering medications, physical therapy, etc.
- Supporting and teaching individuals independent living skills i.e.: routines, meal prep, cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, proper hygiene, medications, appointments, shopping, etc.
- Assisting individuals in accessing the community and participating in recreation and leisure activities. Must be able to drive to and from activities.
- Assisting to resolve challenging situations as they arise.
- Be a problem solver
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 32 per week
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Overnight shift
