Job Description:
We are seeking a Per Diem Yoga Instructor to lead therapeutic yoga sessions with both adults and adolescents as part of our integrated wellness approach. Our ideal candidate will facilitate trauma-informed, therapeutic yoga sessions for individuals in our mental health and substance use outpatient treatment programs. This role focuses on guiding clients in gentle movement, mindfulness, and breathwork to support emotional regulation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. Responsibilities:
- Lead trauma-informed yoga sessions for adolescents and adults in an outpatient mental health setting.
- Adapt practices to meet the physical and emotional needs of individuals with mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders.
- Incorporate mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork techniques into sessions.
- Work collaboratively with clinicians and program staff to integrate yoga into treatment plans.
- Provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Maintain professionalism and uphold ethical standards in a therapeutic setting.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200 or higher) through Yoga Alliance or equivalent.
- Experience teaching yoga in mental health, trauma-informed, or recovery settings is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of mindfulness, breathwork, and movement practices that support emotional regulation and stress reduction.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space for individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Working Conditions:
- This is a per diem position with flexible scheduling based on program needs.
- Sessions take place in a clinical or group setting within our outpatient facility.
- Sessions may include daytime and evening based on client availability.
- Must be able to lead yoga sessions, including standing, bending, and demonstrating poses.
Physical Demands: The employee is required to stand and be on their feet, demonstrate poses, and bend. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
