Job Description
Position: Advocate/Forensic Interviewer
Responsible To: Director of MDT/MEP Services
Basic Job Functions: Provide Victim Support and Advocacy to Child Abuse Victims and Non-offending caregivers and provide Forensic Interview (training provided)
Qualifications: Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a Human Service field (counseling, psychology, social work, criminal justice, etc) and prefer Experience with children/families.
Primary Duties:
Victim Advocate services/duties include but are not limited to the following constellation of services:
- Crisis assessment and intervention, risk assessment and safety planning andsupport for children and family members
- Assessment of individual needs, cultural considerations for child/family andensure those needs are addressed
- Presence at CAC during the forensic interview to participate in informationsharing with other MDT members, inform and support family about thecoordinated, multidisciplinary response, and assess needs of child and non‐offending caregiver
- Provision of education and access to victim’s rights and crime victim’scompensation
- Assistance in securing services (housing, protective orders, domesticviolence intervention, food, transportation, public assistance, civil/legalservices, etc.)
- Provision of referrals for trauma -focused mental health and specializedmedical treatment, if not provided at the CAC.
- Access to transportation to interviews, court, treatment, and othercase‐related meetings
- Engagement in the child’s/family to help them understand the investigation/prosecution process and help ensure understanding of rights
- Participation in case review to communicate and discuss the unique needsof the child and family and associated support services planning; ensure theseamless coordination of services
- Provision of evidence-based, trauma-informed forensic interviews focusedon CSAM/trafficking/pornography child victim cases
- Attend forensic interview peer review quarterly
- Establish rapport and create comfort level with children and accompanying adult(s)
- Interact with children while they await services, including playing, reading, arts/crafts and providing snacks
- Answer phone, make appointments, make reminder calls
- Coordinate, conduct, and attend routine public education and awareness events such as Child Abuse Prevention Awareness rally
- Attend staff meetings, peer reviews, and trainings
- Cover duties of other staff when necessary and appropriate
- Other duties as requested/needed for efficient center operation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
