The Accounting Clerk works directly with the accounting team to provide admin support and assistance with accounting responsibilities and data entry and reconciliation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with approving invoices for payment, including account coding and consistent posting of transactions.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger transactions adhering to established department and company deadlines.
- Ensure that all shipments are invoiced and submitted to the government with speed and accuracy.
- Post transactions as requested for accounts payable and claims chargebacks.
- Assist with the Vendor payment process ensuring all invoices are paid timely.
- Assist with posting bank reconciling items, banking fees, ACH payments, AP (Accounts Payable) Vendor payments.
- Assist with process of preparing, obtaining approval and recording general ledger journal entries.
- Assist with the monthly financial close process including preparation and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries for multiple entities.
- Assist with reconciling intercompany transactions and accounts monthly.
- Assist with preparing, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts monthly.
- Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.
- Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- 2 years accounting experience, preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer Service oriented
- Ability to work well in time-sensitive situations where customer satisfaction is the goal.
- Proven ability to apply attention to detail, role-related accuracy and task follow-through.
- Experience in data analysis a plus.
- Proficient using MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and other Microsoft Office products.
- Positive, proactive, and professional demeanor
- The ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Preferred experience with Great Plains accounting software
