Overnight Shelter Service Coordinator
The Overnight Shelter Service Coordinator at HOPE helps assure a safe overnight environment and a simple start to the new day. Working from midnight until 8 am, you have a range of tasks to keep you busy in preparation for the next day. This is part of a larger team of people who help people experiencing homelessness. Each year, more than 250 shelter guests exit this shelter to a place they can call home. You can make an important difference.
Job description
Position: Full-time Service Coordinator (overnight) 12am-8am
Reports to: Shelter Manager
General Responsibilities
· Coordinators will manage the operations of shelter ensuring the safety of all guests.
· Coordinators will comply with food-handling policies when serving food to guests.
· Coordinators will distribute items of basic need to guests, as needed.
· Coordinators will contribute to case notes and complete incident reports, as needed.
· Coordinators will sometimes be given tasks to help specific guests.
· Coordinators will carry out any additional tasks assigned by the Shelter Manager.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
One of the following: (1) two years of employment in a shelter, mental health agency or adult foster care setting; or (2) mental health training (peer support, mental health tech, etc.); or (3) health training (EMT, CNA, RN etc.); or (4) two years of college in a human service field.
Skills: Ability to handle multiple co-occurring tasks and situations; ability to firmly and politely delegate roles and responsibilities among volunteers and guests, sometimes during tense situations; ability to make quick, but effective, decisions; comfort with speaking in front of a group; and basic computer skills
Salary: Starting at $16.00 /hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Extra precautions are used to keep the shelter safe for all. Face masks are worn by guests and staff. All staff are vaccinated. Nearly all guests are vaccinated. Any guests suspected of being infected are moved to an isolation shelter.
