Job Summary:
The Navigation Center Hygiene Attendant will ensure that all restrooms and sinks are clean, safe, stocked, functional and well-maintained at all times. This position will oversee the distribution of hygiene items, towels, and other supplies. The Navigation Center restroom attendant will engage all individuals receiving services at the center with dignity and respect. The restroom attendant must be detail-oriented, flexible and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as needed.
Skills and Minimum Qualifications:
- Understands population served and potential inherent challenges therein
- Willing to work on Saturdays
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision
- Capacity to take direction
- Strong attention to detail
- Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 30 pounds as necessary
- Polite and professional disposition
- Abiility to pass background check
- TB test required
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Clean and disinfect restrooms after each use, without exception.
- Maintain sanitary, clean conditions of restrooms.
- Maintain supply of toilet paper in each restroom replenishing as needed.
- Maintain adequate supply of feminine hygiene products replenishing as needed.
- Distribute soap, shampoo, and towels to participants as needed.
- Report any maintenance issues to supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Maintain proper and accurate shower logs.
- Wash and dry towels used for restroom maintenance.
- Interact with participants in a professional manner.
- Performs any other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
- Work with collaboration with security guard to ensure safety of participants, staff, volunteers and visitors on the property.
- Participates in assigned staff meetings when required.
- Self-identify potentially unsafe systems/processes/situations and takes initiative to report to manager/supervisor.
- Observe department guidelines concerning absences and reports such absences in accordance with departmental procedures.

Work Environment
The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using alcohol and drugs, and who may not be attentive to basic personal hygiene, health, and safety practices. The employee may experience several unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client's use of alcohol and drugs, and lack of personal hygiene. The employee must be ready to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis situations and potentially hostile situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in an office setting. Sometimes work may become stressful when working under pressure.
