We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant / Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team at a busy veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for animal care and strong skills in animal handling (training is available for the right candidate), along with a basic understanding of veterinary terminology. In this role, you will be an essential part of our team, assisting our veterinarians and contributing to the health and well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Support veterinarians during exams and procedures by safely handling animals and providing necessary tools.
Prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests
Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs and administering medications.
Keep the clinic clean and well-organized, including the kennels and treatment areas.
Provide compassionate care, ensuring animals are comfortable during their visits.
Educate pet owners on proper care techniques and practices.
Assist with laboratory sample handling and diagnostic tests as instructed by the veterinarian, care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operations
Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic, promptly reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
Help manage inventory and ensure the clinic has the supplies and equipment needed for daily operations.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or kennel is preferred but not required. We are happy to train the right candidate.
Familiarity with veterinary terminology is a plus, but not essential.
Strong animal handling skills are required, and experience with dog handling or animal husbandry is a bonus. Applicants must be comfortable working with both cats and dogs.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and the veterinary team.
Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new clinic procedures and protocols.
