Position Summary:
The Director of Programs and Services is responsible for ensuring that all program services—including support groups, community partnerships, and direct services for individuals and families—are delivered using a trauma-informed approach. This position will develop, implement, and oversee trauma-responsive policies, train staff and partners, and provide direct support to program participants in alignment with best practices for trauma-informed care.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development & Implementation
- Integrate trauma-informed principles across all services, ensuring a safe, collaborative, and empowering environment for individuals and families.
- Develop and implement trauma-responsive group programming for individuals and families, fostering resilience and healing.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve service accessibility and inclusivity for diverse populations.
Staff Training & Capacity Building
- Provide ongoing training and coaching to staff, volunteers, and community partners on trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and best practices for supporting survivors.
- Develop training materials to ensure consistent application of trauma-informed approaches across all services.
- Supervision and self-care strategies to support staff well-being and prevent secondary trauma.
- Oversight of Shelter and Outreach programming and services.
Direct Support & Client Engagement
- Oversee and facilitate trauma-informed support groups and interventions for individuals and families.
- Provide case consultation and guidance on trauma-sensitive service delivery for guests experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, or other crises.
- Ensure that program participants receive services that prioritize safety, choice, and empowerment.
Community Engagement & Collaboration
- Strengthen partnerships with community organizations, service providers, and advocacy groups to enhance trauma-responsive resources.
- Represent the organization in community meetings, coalitions, and outreach efforts to promote trauma-informed care initiatives.
- Advocate for systemic changes to improve trauma-sensitive policies within the organization and partner agencies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in program coordination, social services, or trauma-informed care.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed principles, including safety, trustworthiness, peer support, collaboration, and cultural responsiveness.
- Experience facilitating groups and training on trauma-informed approaches.
- Knowledge of domestic violence, mental health, homelessness, and systemic barriers impacting vulnerable populations.
- Ability to build strong relationships with community partners and advocate for survivors’ needs.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in trauma-informed practices or crisis intervention training is a plus.
- Experience in grant writing or program evaluation.
