Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Water Treatment Plant Lead Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation of various plant equipment and ensuring that production processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of plant operations, maintenance and repair of water treatment plant equipment. The Operator is responsible for plant operations, quality testing and compliance with all Federal and State environmental quality laws and issued permits..
Responsibilities
- Inspect all plant equipment and systems for proper and efficient operations.
- Operates and adjusts chemical feed equipment pumps, filters and other operating units to insure proper operation and guard against equipment breakdown
- Operates and maintains sludge pumps.
- Calculates chemical dosages in order to optimize treatment operations based on laboratory results, systems flow and other conditions.
- Calibrates water treatment equipment such as turbidity meters, chemical feed pumps, etc. as required by State and Federal regulations.
- Execute basic math calculations for measurements and material handling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to build efficient operational strategies.
- Operates mixers, pumps, engines, generators, and other equipment used to control and adjust flows and treatment processes
- Inspects chemical supplies to ensure the proper supplies are available and notifies proper individual(s) of need to reorder
- Washes out settling basins and reservoirs on a regular basis
- Required to inspect and perform minor repairs and maintenance of plant equipment such as motors, pumps, compressors, chemical feeders, and flotation units
- Assist in the installation and/or replaces equipment and machinery
- Participates in the major plant equipment installation and overhaul
- Collects water samples and prepares samples to be analyzed through complex testing procedures
- Performs operations/processes laboratory analysis
- Interprets results from laboratory tests and makes adjustments to treatment process/equipment based on that data
- Collects routine samples and performs routine process/operations test
- Perform duties as necessary to ensure safe and reliable water
- Qualifications
- Must possess organizational and communication skills.
- Must have five or more years water treatment experience
- Must be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel programs to produce and record data
- Must have a Grade 4 Arkansas Department of Health Water Distribution License
- Must have a Grade 4 Arkansas Department of Health Water Treatment Operator License
- Basic math skills are essential for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Must have a high school diploma or a GED
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
