REPORTS TO: Development Director
OVERVIEW: Responsible for government grants, grant writing and assisting in fundraising activities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Grant Writing/Fundraising
- Writing and submitting of government grants (federal/state/city), follow through and reporting oversight
- Grant proposal writing to include writing grant proposals and applications, finding sources of grant moneys, networking to locate moneys and ideas for grant proposals
- Networking with staff to keep abreast of needs and finding funding sources to meet those needs as approved by Development Director
- Networking with funders to assure grant compliance
- Grant reports updates
- Outcome measurements for programs
- Planning for agency needs and program development
- Maintaining contacts with governmental contract designees
Community Relations
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with community, county, state and federal officials, major contributors and key individuals
- Networking with other organizations in order to keep a positive high-profile image
- Develop relationships with churches, civic groups, clubs
- Other community relations activities and events as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years’ experience in non-profit grant writing,
development, community relations or similar experience
2. Experience in writing governmental grant applications
3. Knowledge of fundraising strategies and grant writing
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Knowledge of fundraising strategies and concepts
2. Strong written and spoken communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels; and in one on one or in group settings
3. Knowledge of the community strongly preferred
4. Duties may be changed based on Agency needs.
