JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director (ED), the Senior Director of Residential Services supports the Residential Programs of Hope to ensure that the organization’s strategic objectives are met. The individual serves as a key advisor to the ED and the lead in the coordination of residential organizational initiatives. The Senior Director of Residential Services will manage senior/executive communications and ensure the execution of programs serving children and adults with disabilities within the programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serves as key administrator over all of Hope’s Residential Programs. Oversees day-to-day operations, including coordination between programs.
Facilitates execution of key projects and initiatives that improve residential service delivery.Assists in developing and executing long-term strategic plans and ensures alignment with organizational goals.Coordinates leadership team meetings, ensuring the agenda supports key organizational priorities and that follow-up actions are completed.Monitors and evaluates residential program outcomes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations related to disability services.Manages senior/executive communications, including preparing briefings, reports and presentations for the ED.Creates and builds more structure surrounding daily residential operations and drive to excellence. Holds senior residential leadership accountable by tracking and prioritizing tasks.Provides quick and appropriate response to ongoing communication between key stakeholders and senior leadership.Works with the residential leadership team to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.Serves as key liaison between Hope and external agencies such as but not limited to The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and The Department of Human Services (DHS).Drives succession planning, ensuring a strong pipeline of future leaders.Assists ED in collaboration with the finance department to align residential financial planning with strategic priorities.Assists ED in creating annual budgets, forecasting needs for residential growth, and ensuring efficient resource allocation across programs.Is available on-call for any an all emergent issues related to staff, resident, or environment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Exceptional leadership and project management skills.Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and initiatives simultaneously.Knowledge of state regulatory requirements, including familiarity with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), and Department of Human Services (DHS).Knowledge of residential programs and best practices.Knowledge of evidence-based practice in the treatment and education of person with autism and developmental disabilitiesAssumes responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of the youth as outlined in the Agency Policies and Procedures.Communicates with parents, guardians, staff, visitors, licensing agencies, etc. in a professional and courteous manner.Assumes responsibility for assuring compliance of client rights and program delivery as defined in the Illinois Department of Mental Health Code and the Confidentiality Act, as well as the Child Care Act of the Department of Children and Family Services.TRAINING, ACADEMIC AND EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in human services field .Minimum 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in human services and/or non-profit.Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly in therapeutic schools and/or residential programs. Demonstrated skill in key components of operation including business planning, project management, policy/procedure development, and resource management.Proven ability to successfully work with a diverse group of people, to build effective teams, to develop staff, and achieve results through others.Experience in driving functional organizational change, to improve both work culture and practice.Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and analytical, problem-solving skillsBackground clearance, physical and drug/alcohol screeningEnergetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions include office, schools, and residential settings serving clients with autism and other intellectual/developmental disabilities.There may be intermittent exposure to loud sounds and potential injury (due to loud client verbalizations and client aggressive behaviors).Environment is fast-paced, and requires frequent interaction with staff, students, and administrators. Typical day will require a mix of being seated using computer (keyboard, mouse, screen), phone, and attending meetings both on and off campus. Intermittent travel required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Senior Director of Residential Services must model and work directly with clinical professionals, leadership, and clients.This role may be subject to prolonged periods of sit-down work at a desk and working on a computer as well as prolonged periods of sitting while traveling, walking, or standing with clients and providers both indoors as well as traversing outdoors when applicable.This position and work involve traveling to various work sites as needed; must be able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 pounds at a time; willingness and ability to make quick body movements.BENEFITS:
