Are you looking for a hands-on role where you can make a real impact? Join HOPES CAP, Inc. as a Bus Driver/Custodian and play a key role in safely transporting children and staff and facility upkeep for our Early Childhood Program!
As a Bus Driver/Custodian, you will be responsible for operating a school bus, ensuring the safe transportation of children and staff to and from school, field trips, and special events. You will also maintain compliance with all transportation regulations, help promote a secure and organized travel environment and maintain a clean, safe environment at our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport children to and from school, field trips, and program events
- Conduct pre- and post-trip bus inspections and maintain transportation records
- Ensure the bus is cleaned, fueled, and properly maintained
- Conduct emergency bus evacuation drills and safety training for children and staff
- Transport parents and children to health screenings and other appointments as needed
- Assist in training newly hired Bus Assistants and Substitute Bus Drivers
- Follow all safety regulations, program policies, and procedures
- Keep facilities clean, organized, and in good repair
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- 1 years of experience driving a school bus or multi-passenger vehicle
- Valid New Jersey CDL with endorsements for a 54-passenger school bus with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Experience in vehicle maintenance and repair
- Knowledge and understanding of regulations and standards applicable to NJ Motor Vehicle Commission
- Basic computer skills to allow access to email and be able to maintain communication within the agency.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
