Description

Position Title: Fundraising & Development Intern (Summer 2025)

Supervisor: Development Manager

FLSA Status: Unpaid Internship

Schedule: Flexible Hours, 16-24 hours per week

 Employment Status:  Part-Time, Unpaid

Start/End Dates: End of May 2025 – Mid Aug 2025

HopeWorks is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fundraising and Development Intern for the Summer 2025 semester. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development and fundraising. The Intern will support the Development Manager in various fundraising initiatives, special events, and donor relations, contributing to the overall mission of HopeWorks. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in nonprofit management, fundraising, or communications.

 

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain practical experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
  • Learn about the operational aspects of donor relations, event planning, and communications.
  • Develop skills in project management, data entry, and research.
  • Understand the mission and vision of a nonprofit organization committed to social justice and community impact.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s program (focus on Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
  • Commitment to HopeWorks' mission, vision, and values.

 

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with database management or CRM systems is a plus.
  • Previous volunteer or internship experience in a nonprofit setting is desirable.
  • Graphic design skills or experience with Canva or similar tools is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Fundraising Support:

  • Assist in the implementation of various fundraising campaigns, including email outreach, social media, and online giving platforms.
  • Help maintain and update donor records in the database.
  • Aid in processing acknowledgment letters and other donor correspondence.
  • Conduct research on prospective donors and corporate partners.

Event Coordination:

  • Support the planning and execution of special events, including logistics, volunteer coordination, and event promotion.
  • Assist in managing third-party fundraisers and community fundraising efforts.
  • Provide on-site or remote support during events as needed.

Communications:

  • Contribute to the creation of content for newsletters, social media, and donor communications.
  • Help draft materials such as press releases, event invitations, and thank you letters.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the organization's website and social media channels.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with general office tasks, including filing, data entry, and scheduling.
  • Help prepare materials for meetings and presentations.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
