Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant/Patient Care Coordinator. This dual role involves assisting the physician on clinical days and serving as a Patient Care Coordinator on administrative days when Dr. Hopkins is at her Louisiana office. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Assistant Duties (Clinical Days):
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are ready.
- Assist the physician with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as administering injections, collecting specimens, and dressing wounds.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, medications, and follow-up instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
Patient Care Coordinator Duties (Administrative Days):
- Greet patients warmly and manage check-ins and check-outs.
- Schedule appointments, handle cancellations, and manage the daily calendar.
- Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and provide information about services.
- Verify insurance information and process co-pays or payments as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
- Coordinate communication between patients, the physician, and other staff members.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in a medical office setting required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and EMR systems (NexTech, preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other administrative tools.
