What are the responsibilities and job description for the TEACHER position at HOPKINS HOUSE-A CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Teacher, Preschool is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing daily preschool academy activities for the students in his/her classroom.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and implement daily lesson plans;
- Participate in in-service training and attend local and regional early child development conferences, seminars and meetings;
- Maintain safe and clean classroom environment;
- Organize and maintain developmentally appropriate classroom;
- Maintain classroom records, including children's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), attendance records, health and safety forms and procedures, and written reports;
- Meet regularly and frequently with parents;
- Order classroom supplies and submit custodial and repair requests;
- Ensure compliance with state and local licensing rules;
- Supervise classroom staff; and,
- Provide such other related duties as may, from time-to-time, be assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree or higher, in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, or related field.
YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least 1 year of classroom teaching experience in a licensed childcare facility or school.
OTHER RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in a NAEYC accredited center desired, but not required
- Virginia teaching license desired, but not required.
- Fluency in spoken Spanish a plus, but not required.
