What are the responsibilities and job description for the IB Coordinator position at Hopkins Public Schools?
- Ensure that IB guidelines for professional development are maintained, including regular official IB training for the IB Coordinator, administrators, and teaching staff.
- Partner with admin, instructional coaches, mentors, and teacher leaders to ensure develop PD plans
- Develop PD sessions that lead staff in a collaborative planning and reflection process aligned with IB standards and practices in coordination with district/school goals.
- Facilitate department meetings to ensure curriculum, assessment, goal alignment with IB standards and practices in coordination with district/school goals.
- Onboard new WMS staff. Coordinate with New Teacher coaches, mentors, and department chairs to ensure new teachers understand and apply the IB MYP framework and philosophy
- Help staff align and develop MYP units for 3 middle school grades that meet current IB standards and practices.
- Create templates, reporting forms and workshop materials for district and school meetings and workshops, in the service of supporting current IB standards and practices.
- Understand and disseminate information of all publications from IBO. This includes subject area guides, standards, assessment practices, international awareness, special education needs, and others.
- Collect, give feedback to and document all teacher work (units, assessments, goals etc.) during the year.
- Work with technology leadership to align IB curriculum with LMS (Canvas).
- Communicate IB scoring philosophy and implementation with all stakeholders.
- Assist staff in accurate IB scoring.
- Work with Service Coordinator and/or other staff to facilitate the Community Project
- Remain up to date with IB Standards & Practices, communications
- Plan and implement the five-year IB Evaluation Cycle.
- Provide accurate accounting of implementation costs of IB-MYP program including staffing, fees, training, the MDE reimbursement, and other program facets.
- Coordinate the IB-MYP work with Hopkins District Vision 2031 Work with the HILT team and communicate with BILT
- Lead review and revision of policies and procedures which support the program

- Ensure district leadership, building leadership, and support staff understand and can articulate IB philosophy
- Ensure teachers can understand and apply the IB MYP framework and philosophy
- Ensure students can demonstrate an understanding and awareness of the IB MYP framework and philosophy
- Ensure that parents/caregivers understand IB philosophy and scoring
- Collaborate with IB Coordinators in the Hopkins District (NMS, Ike, and Gatewood) to build collective efficacy
- Collaborate with IB Coordinators in the MNIB association.
- Serve as the liaison person with the IB-MYP Organization
- Minnesota Department of Education licensure appropriate to the area of assignment.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, advanced degree preferred.
- 5 or more years of teaching experience in an IB school.
- Knowledge of school organization, goals, and objectives with special emphasis on teaching techniques and successful strategies.
- Ability to lead a team and build a collaborative culture.
- Knowledge of materials and current trends/research in the field of specialization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and effectively work with diverse populations.
