Summary:
Assist students in various school environments, including the classroom, playground, and other school environments; assist students and implement strategies for learning academic skills, such as reading and math; assist students with learning skills needed to transition to greater independence; and participate in other duties assigned by staff.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least two years post-secondary training and be able to demonstrate a minimum of 1-2 years previous experience with students with special needs; the ability to work with students having emotional, physical, and cognitive special needs; the ability to take the initiative in responding to students' needs in a manner which is respectful and effective; ability to provide opportunities for students to complete tasks independently, when appropriate; flexibility in responding to student’s needs; ability to maintain student confidentiality; ability to work with students individually, in groups, in a resource room, or through computer use; ability to respond to health care needs such as toileting, feeding, transferring—knowledge of and ability to implement behavior management strategies.

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
Schedule and Compensation:
Dates: June 24th - July 18; Monday - Thursday
Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday; 8:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. (students 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.)
SEIU Union Contract
Range: Step 1 $25.00 per hour.
