What You’ll Do:
As a building substitute, you will perform related duties in the absence of the classroom teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day responsibilities by implementing the teacher’s prepared lesson plans.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide instructions according to lesson plans as prepared by the classroom teacher or create lesson plans in the absence of a prepared lesson.
- Uphold all District policies, rules and procedures to which all teachers are subject.
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assist the teacher with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times: in the classroom, school site and in the community.
- Ability to present material using a variety of approaches, techniques, and media aids to stimulate interest, enthusiasm, and curiosity about subjects and events.
- Perform other related duties and/or provide classroom coverage as requested by the Teacher/Principal and designees.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
- Minimum of 1-year teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting (Preferred)
- Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
- Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus
- Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply
- Current authorization to work in the United States

Additional Information:
The building substitutes will be hired to work at one particular school and will be guaranteed a role every day.
Salary: Building subs are full-time employees and part of our Paraprofessional Union. Pay aligns with the Para CBA.
