The Franklin Public School System is seeking an educational assistant to work within the REACH program at Horace Mann Middle School. The REACH program provides a constellation of supports and services for students with disabilities impacting social, emotional, and behavioral functioning. The program is designed to help children reach their full potential by providing direct instruction and embedded support in the areas of social, academic, behavior, language, self-regulation and communication skills across all environments. The students receive highly specialized instruction within general education classrooms and within the REACH program, as appropriate. The work of the assistant is performed under the direction of administration, lead teacher(s) and counselor. REACH provides the therapeutic milieu where the children are explicitly taught skills to manage their challenges. The program offers a safe and supportive environment that engages children in social skill development, emotional regulation, and high academic achievement.
Responsibilities of the REACH educational assistant include:
Aiding in providing academic instruction in collaboration with other members of the team
Assisting in providing behavioral programming for assigned students in collaboration with other members of the team
Recording data
Carrying over learned therapeutic strategies into all environments
Using common language and strategies across all environments
Working collaboratively with REACH team members
Actively participating in on-going training
