DUTIES :

  • Lead System Engineer for spectrometer product development and spectroscopy instrumentation including CCD spectrometers, cooled camera systems, prototyping, assembly, testing and automation
  • Responsible for all opto-mechanical aspects of product development including : feasibility studies, design, testing / debugging, lab set up, data acquisition, data analysis including resolution, stray light and throughput, and other evaluations for prototype and production hardware
  • Acting as Project manager , coordinating various engineering teams towards common goals : a successful, high-performance product, and an on-time release.
  • Assembly / testing / data analysis of prototypes and ramp-up volumes for design optimization, prior to release to manufacturing
  • Must be able to work independently as THE Product Champion leading all R&D disciplines towards competitive product performance and meeting Marketing specifications and cost targets.
  • Documenting the project (for ISO) and manufacturing process with procedures and work instructions.
  • Training manufacturing technicians on new product releases and on changes to existing processes
  • Writing and presenting reports to customers, engineering, marketing and management
  • System BOM costing studies and reduction campaigns in various volumes
  • Customer interfacing to support business development, technical support of sales team in pre-sale and post-sale situations
  • Summary - Cross-functional collaboration : Bridge gaps between different departments like engineering teams, marketing, sales, and customer service to align efforts around the product, from the development phase to the technical support in pre-sale and post-sale situations.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Master’s Degree preferred in Physics, Mechanical, Opto-mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • 3 years in Opto-mechanical system Design and / or Manufacturing Engineering role, industrialization and / or qualification / testing programs
  • Experience in Mechanical design / engineering. Knowledge of Pro-E (preferred) or Solidworks
  • Experience in Zemax or spectrometer alignment a plus, to verify simulated performance is met.
  • Experience in Spectral data acquisition and analysis a plus. Previous use of CCD and CMOS Scientific Cameras and knowledge of sensors specifications a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in UV, visible and infrared optical design and analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills
  • Position requires 4-5 days per week on-site, in Piscataway NJ
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident required
