Role Summary:
The Business Development Officer is responsible for developing and enhancing business relationships for the Bank. The primary focus of this role is to work collaboratively with internal partners to identify and develop new business relationships and to deepen relationships with our existing customer base. The Business Development Officer actively connects with prospects and current customers face-to-face, through outbound calls and through business site visits. The Business Development Officer provides comprehensive financial solutions to our business customers and is empowered to deliver business and personal financial solutions in a designated region.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively pursues new potential customers through sales calls, networking and ongoing business development. Collaborates with internal partners to offer strategic and targeted calling activities.
- Provides a high level of professional customer service by evaluating needs of potential and current customers and collaborating with all internal business partners to offer appropriate financial products and services.
- Develops new business through the active participation of sales development strategies. Dedicates at least one-two day(s) out of the office weekly for sales calls and a minimum of four hours per week coordinating and planning sales calls.
- Builds deposits, loans, fee income and refers appropriate customers and prospects to all applicable cross-sell partners, including merchant card processing, investment and insurance services, business credit cards, etc.
- Participates in community and professional groups to ensure a positive image for the Bank. Establish referral contacts within the community. Serve on community, corporate and/or not-for-profit boards, as applicable.
- Understands and complies with the laws and compliance regulations that pertain to the products and services being offered to the customer.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on customer onboarding and acts as a liaison between a variety of departments.
- Tracks all business sales activities through the Bank's Customer Relationship Management System (CRM). Strives to meet sales goals and expectations to grow the market share in the designated region.

- Update knowledge and develop professionally on a continuing basis. Participate in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
- Perform other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or economics and a minimum of 5 years B2B sales or business banking experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer service oriented with a keen eye for detail and a strong ethical focus. Resourceful, innovative, well organized and strong negotiation skills.
- Requires the ability to assess problems or unusual situations and develop logical solutions.
- Requires the ability to create a collaborative and motivating team environment.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning is required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average 40 hours a week. Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees. Occasional travel between offices and out-of-town/overnight business travel required.
