Hours : full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Location : Lynchburg, VA 24501
Position Summary
The Clinician - Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) will work as a member of the integrated care team to ensure the implementation of an individualized treatment plan to individuals receiving services through residential placement and discharge from the Blue Ridge Regional jail into the community.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university in an applicable human services field or combination or qualifications that allows for QMHP credential.
- A minimum of one (1) year of documented clinical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that qualifies the incumbent as a QMHP-C or QMHP-A.
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of behavior modification; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); emergency interventions; family, group, and individual therapies; psychosocial education; risk assessments; sex offender treatment; substance abuse interventions; etc.; Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of psychiatric / medical medications / treatments ; Skill to analyze situations accurately and develop appropriate responses or techniques; Skill to communicate effectively in order to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team; Skill to perform clinical interviews in order to obtain information and to formulate appropriate treatment plans.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, and provide services to clients in other locations. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Willing and able to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed
