Hours : 37.5 hours per week (full-time)

Adult nursing schedule - Monday through Friday : 7.5-hour workday between the hours of 7 : 30 AM and 5 : 30 PM, depending on nursing needs and provider schedules.

Pediatric clinic nursing schedule - Monday through Friday : Monday 9-5, Tuesday 9-5, Wednesday 8-5 : 30, Thursday 8-3 : 30, Friday 9-5 : 30.

Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse working in the Horizon Wellness Clinics are responsible for the overall medical care of assigned individuals, including the service delivery of basic nursing assessments; delivery of client / family education and diagnostic procedures; consultation with physicians; and carrying out of doctor's orders. FT positions for child and adult nursing are available.

Required Education and Experience

• The successful completion of a course of study that allows for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of VA is required.
• One year of experience providing nursing services as an LPN is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources. Knowledge of nursing best practices. Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, physical health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse. Knowledge of psychiatric / medical medications / treatments. Skill to administer medications. Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required. Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to client at other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites; Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
