What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Horizon Behavioral Health?
The medical assistant is responsible for executing daily medical assistant duties and assisting with front office activities when needed. The Medical Assistant will ensure compliance with HIPAA/OSHA standards. At all times, the position will display excellence in customer service and exhibit the values of integrity and compassion. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Obtain Vital Signs.
- Collect Lab Specimens (Urine and Saliva Drug Testing).
- Ensure Proper Completion of Laboratory Paperwork.
- Verify current patient demographics.
- Answer multi-line phone system and direct all calls to appropriate parties.
- Check voice mail for messages, and distribute accordingly.
- Answer all triage calls.
- Diligently handle medical records release and/or request.
- Perform TMS and Spravato treatments under the supervision of the Medical Director
- Return patient calls and relay messages to patients under the direction of the providers.
- Monitor MA/Office supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory runs low.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all services offered to patients.
- Explain office policies to patients as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Shred patient information to comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow HIPAA regulations.
- Follow OSHA rules and regulations.
- Follow Compliance rules and regulations against fraud and abuse.
- Maintain front office quality assurance.
- Handle a variety of matters including basic insurance knowledge, operational, and customer service issues.
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality.
- Ensure the patients are treated courteously and professionally.
- Deliver top-notch customer service to every patient that enters our doors.
- The ability to smile while the world crashes around us.
Minimum of 2 years of medical office MA experience.

Must be comfortable with direct patient care and can perform complex tasks with exacting precision.

Know how to speak to patients: what not to say and when not to say it
Pleasant phone manner and voice.

Able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible.
Confident positive manner and appearance.
Customer service experience.
Word processing, data entry, 10-key, telephone, and computer experience
Medical Assisting Experience is REQUIRED.
