Hours : Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Location : Lynchburg, VA

POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Plants & Facilities Assistant performs a variety of administrative and maintenance support duties necessary for Physical Plants and Facilities operations. This position supports the decisions of the Senior Physical Plants & Facilities Technician and Procurement & Facilities Manager, completing tasks as assigned as well as completing regularly assigned tracking and records management duties in support of vehicle fleet maintenance. This position requires customer-facing interaction.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma / GED
One (1) year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

RELATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

General maintenance knowledge.

Knowledge of basic auto mechanics.

Ability to perform general maintenance tasks such as filter changes, thermostat changes, bulb replacement, furniture moves, and painting, etc.

Knowledge of customer service techniques and best practices.

Analyze needs and determine / locate appropriate resources.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Effectively use Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to use a computer to access information and accurately input and manage data.

Ability to record data accurately and complete documentation within established expectations and / or communicated deadlines.

Ability to identify customer needs and respond with appropriate customer service-driven actions.

Ability to manage time and ensure multiple competing priorities are met.

Ability to promote positive, collaborative, and professional working relations among coworkers and representatives in the community.

Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner.

Willing and able to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.

Ability to work in various environments that may include cold, heat, and confined spaces.

Ability to bend and safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Ability to climb ladders, shovel snow, and perform other similarly strenuous tasks.

Ability and willingness to learn and comply with jobsite safely practices.

Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.

Ability to drive and must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. May be required to travel to different Horizon worksites during the day based on operational needs or provide administrative support at other locations. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.

Ability to develop and maintain organized filing systems (electronic and physical files).
