Job Title: Assistant General Manager – Distribution Center
Location: McDonough, Georgia (onsite daily)
As the Assistant General Manager (AGM) in our Distribution Center, you will be a key leader in our 460k sq. ft. facility reporting directly to the General Manager. You will play a vital role in leading the operations as well as continuing to build our people processes and culture. Roles & Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
- Partner with the GM to plan and execute daily, monthly, and long-term workflow for the DC operation.
- Co-lead the daily operations of our 460k Sq ft Wholesale Distribution Center and Ecommerce Fulfillment in a multi-shift operation; steps in to lead in the absence of GM.
- Uses an analytical approach to make process improvements to drive value to our customers and business
- Partner with cross functional business teams to drive value and increase sales through best-in-class distribution operations
- Maintain Inventory accuracy through people and process controls
- Work with finance team on ad hoc analysis and distribution budgeting tools and processes
- Review and maintain tools and equipment needed for operation of DC
- Work with management teams to update, manage and implement standard policies, procedures and practices of operation including safety regulations and handbook policies
- Control customer order base, manage and prioritize various types of order requirements throughout each week
- Review new and current customer requirements, train staff on proper handling of customer orders
- Work within Apprise to confirm labor is added correctly into COGS for special projects and VAS, process certain customer orders and maintain inventory via working with customer service
- Maintain a safe, clean and accident-free operation
- Maintain strong business relationships with third party warehouses, suppliers, vendors, and other service providers for present and future business needs
- Work with Management team and staff on the warehouse floor to complete all daily tasks and process customer orders
People Leadership:
- Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, annual workforce planning to include HGU employees and supplemental contingent workforce
- Hire and retain best in class distribution talent
- Foster an industry leading work culture
- Identify, create, and sustain KPIs to manage building and team performance
- Leadership of the DC management team to include but not limited to working toward strong teamwork, communication and proper management of staff and temporary help
- Work with management team to consistently review employee performance, provide disciplinary guidelines, and conduct year end employee performance review for all personnel
- Plan projects and daily workflow for DC teams; temporarily reallocate staff to different departments when needed
- Place orders on a daily basis through temp agencies for temporary staffing assistance based on order or special project volumes
- Manage and approve employee attendance, hours worked and time off requests through ADP portal
- Interact with Human Resources to assist with HR issues including employee benefits, leave of absence requests and anything HR related
Skills & Qualifying Experience:
- 7 years of progressive warehouse leadership experience required. Wholesale distribution and Ecommerce experience preferred
- Bachelors in Business, Supply Chain or related field preferred
- Additional certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, APICS, etc. preferred
- Proficient use of ERP system and RF scanners required
- Experience in a “manual” DC (one that does not have a WMS) highly preferred
- Experience implementing a WMS strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Demonstrated success leading strong teams
- Knowledge of production and quality processes
- Prior experience writing SOP’s
- Past Walmart experience preferred
- Primary work schedule is first shift (4x10 Monday-Thursday), but flexible schedule to sometimes include evenings and weekends when needed
Monday - Thursday 6a-4p with Fridays/weekends during peak season
