Horizon Health & Wellness provides extensive training for Crisis Specialists including suicide assessment, referral resources, crisis intervention and treatment planning, in-home safety, crisis de-escalation skills, critical incident debriefing, CPR/First Aid and more.
A Crisis Specialist provides face to face crisis assessment and intervention to individuals from all age groups in the Pinal County community who are experiencing behavioral health crises. This position shall intervene to alleviate the participant’s immediate social, emotional, or environmental crisis and assess, evaluate, triage, and refer the participant for appropriate follow-up treatment to support a return to an effective lifestyle. This position may also provide outreach and engagement to outpatient clients as needed.
Horizon provides mobile crisis teams 7 days/week 365 days/year. Full time Crisis staff work four 10-hour shifts per week (with 3 days off per week). Various shift days and times are available.
We are currently looking for qualified candidates to work within our Apache Junction, Casa Grande or Florence locations.
Qualifications Required
- Minimum of High School Diploma/GED with four (4) years of behavioral health experience OR bachelor’s degree in behavioral health related field. Experience equivalency is considered if combined education & experience meets qualifications as Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).Education & behavioral health work experience:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Possess valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record including but not limited to a serious traffic violation (ie. Reckless Driving; at fault accident; felony speeding) or greater than 2 traffic violations in prior 39 months.
- Trained in crisis intervention and offer services to agency participants and residents in the community.
- Appropriate referrals and placements within the treatment continuum.
- Demonstrated ability to provide counseling/case management to SMI participants in the Mental Health program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of special populations such as substance abuse.
- Demonstrated ability to develop treatment plan and summary based on participants needs.
- Demonstrated ability to distinguish between alcohol and other drug-related symptoms and other pre-existing physical problems or pathologic behaviors.
- Demonstrated ability to understand the biopsychosocial influences and effects of dependencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of how the acute and chronic nature of the dependence and the ways medical, emotional, behavioral, social, educational and other interventions are used to treat the participant.
- Demonstrated knowledge of referral resources available to participants.
- Able to effectively employ analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR, agency will provide training if candidate does not have active certification.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass a background check with Pinal County Sheriffs department to ensure access to the Correctional Facilities.

Qualifications Preferred

- Advanced knowledge of cultural diversity and sensitivity
