Position Summary & Qualifications
This position is a float position for all outpatient clinics in the agency. This position is responsible for covering pre-planned and unplanned absences in the department and will be assigned to different locations depending on staffing needs. This position promotes and restores patients health by maintaining the day-to-day operation of the patent care area; assisting support staff; working with the clinic provider to assure physical and psychological support for patients at the level for which the Medical Assistant was trained and certified. This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position that includes tasks or duties (i.e., driving) that the employer in good faith believes could affect the safety, health or reputation of the Agency, participants, the employee performing the task or others.
Qualifications Required
- HS diploma or GED plus Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program
- Possess valid drivers license with acceptable driving record, MVD report, and reliable transportation
- CPR/First Aid Certification, training will be provided if candidate does not possess active certification.
- Demonstrated organizational abilities to maintain communication, coordination, and connections with clinical team participants.
- Desire and capacity to maintain time-management and organization while working in fast-paced, hands-on work environment.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records
- Flexibility to travel to multiple clinics.
- Must obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card and pass a background check
- Have working knowledge of English.
Mental and Emotional
- Mental and emotional requirements include prioritizing workload, decision-making ability, using sound judgment to field inquiries concerning administrative, clinical and operational concerns and ability to greet and deal effectively with participants, families, staff and community members.
Physical
- Long periods of sitting, ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Able to operate phone, Fax, copier, and a computer
- Series of Hepatitis B shots or declination of same at hire
- Proof of negative TB test or declination of same at hire
- Encounter occasionally hazards such as, but not limited to, bodily fluids and potentially infectious materials
- Occasionally breathing in gases; occasionally in contact with odors and dust
Qualifications Preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Previous front and back office experience in a primary care setting
- One (1) year experience working in multiple settings and levels of care, including both mental health
