The position responsibilities include providing support services in a Trauma Informed Recovery Focused manner at Recovery Villages Residential Treatment Centers through individual and group education, coaching, mentoring and support. The Recovery Tech will supervise the daily routine of residents including resident activities either in the home or in the community as well as the general cleanliness and maintenance of the facility. This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position that includes tasks or duties (i.e., driving) that the employer in good faith believes could affect the safety, health or reputation of the Agency, participants, the employee performing the task or others. In all duties listed in the job description, the Recovery Tech is responsible for creating a positive experience for residents where Kindness Matters.Qualifications Required
- Minimum of High School Diploma / GED with four (4) years of behavioral health experience OR bachelor's degree in behavioral health related field. Experience equivalency is considered if combined education & experience meets qualifications as Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to type and working knowledge / familiarity with computers and electronic clinical record keeping.
- Ability to effectively use CPI or crisis de-escalation / behavior management techniques in crisis situations.
- Demonstrates ability to distinguish between alcohol and other drug-related symptoms and other pre-existing physical problems or pathologic behaviors.
- Demonstrates knowledge of how the acute and chronic nature of substance use disorders, and the ways medical, emotional, behavioral, social, educations, and other interventions are used to treat the participant.
- Willing to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Certification in first aid and CPR, agency will provide training if individual does not have active certification at time of hire.
- Obtain Tuberculosis screening test upon hire to provide evidence that individual is free from infectious tuberculosis prior to providing services and additional TB testing or screening questionnaires will be performed annually.
- Possess the physical, mental, and cognitive ability to perform specific clinical and / or tasks required by the position without posing a direct threat to the safety and security of patients.
- Must obtain and maintain a level one fingerprint clearance card, clear APS Central Registry Check, and pass a background check.Mental and Emotional
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to positively interact and develop rapport with mentally ill participants and their families, professional and support staff, and various levels of staff from community agencies.
- Able to maintain a calm, non-defensive, supportive attitude during crisis or potential crisis situations.Physical
- Long periods of sitting, ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Able to operate phone, Fax, copier, and a computer.
- Must be fully ambulatory and able to assist participants.
- Must be able to operate an Agency vehicle.Qualifications Preferred
- Bilingual English / Spanish
- Experience working in Integrated Healthcare, Behavioral Health or Residential.
- Advanced knowledge of cultural diversity and sensitivity.
