Horizon Health Advance Practice Provider for the Emergency Department- Paris, IL

Horizon Health has opportunities for full time (36 hours per week, 3-12 hour shifts 10 : 30am-11pm) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role to join our growing Emergency Services Department in Paris, IL.

We are a rural organization that includes a critical access hospital, extensive outpatient services, and rural health clinics, but much larger in scope and size than typical rural organizations. The APP will work with our Emergency Medicine Physicians to care for patients seeking Emergency Services. This role will assess, diagnose, and treat patients on an acute, urgent to emergent basis. This includes maintaining individual patient records, performing medical examinations, and prescribing medications as well as dealing with acute or specialized medical issues.

Position Requirements :

  • Possess current and valid license from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations
  • Officially accredited to practice as an Advance Practice Provider
  • 2-3 years of experience as an ED RN preferred
  • Meet all state requirements and obtain valid Prescriptive Authority
  • Maintain currency in all state and national legal requirements to practice.
  • Maintain certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS (recommend Trauma certification)
  • Competent in the use of electronic medical records and information systems in providing effective documentation of patient care.
  • Ability to achieve high performance working with diverse groups of individuals and leadership in a team environment.
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills, multitasking ability, and effective communication skills to ensure patients are well informed and the ED is well promoted internally and to the public.

Essential Functions :

  • Responsible for providing episodic care, as well as screening and educational assistance to the clinic’s patients.
  • Recognize the diversity of patient population and treat patients with dignity, respect and agreed satisfaction.
  • Work in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team and organizational team to provide quality service to patients.
  • Provide quality medical care to patients by following the most current evidence-based guidelines where applicable.
  • Following the Emergency Department’s evidence-based guidelines, perform diagnostic screenings.
  • Take part in quality assurance audits, including medication administration review, and peer review.
  • Ensure organizational objectives regarding financials, patient engagement, and healthcare quality.
  • Promote organizational services to patients and carry out promotional campaigns.
  • Ensure participation in continuing education and training to keep abreast of current developments in the industry and as required for maintenance of state licensure.
  • Ensure state licensure and national certification remain current and valid.
  • Ensure continuous flow of communication with leadership of Emergency Department to enhance quality of healthcare service to patients.
  • Collaborate with the supervising physician on each patient.
  • Participate in meetings as planned.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned and deemed competent.
  • Specialist referral coordination (orthopedic, physical therapy, dermatology, etc.)
  • E-prescribing with generic medications as a focus
  • Lab collection and processing
  • ED procedures with proven competency such as I&D, suturing of minor lacerations, splinting, et al.
  • Pay Range :

    Pay ranges from $104K to 140K (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience)

    Our Emergency Department is staffed with Board Certified Emergency Physicians. Our Family Practice has 20 physicians and providers in multiple locations, with specialist support in behavioral health, general surgery, women’s services, orthopedics, pain, dermatology, podiatry, endocrinology, wound care, urology, urogynecology, and cardiology. Additionally, we have 11 visiting specialists that see patients in Paris each month. The hospital has a 24 / 7 hospitalist service and convenient care for patients. We have a physician and provider friendly EMR. In 2023, we completed expansion projects including adding an outpatient dialysis center, home health services, pre-anesthesia clinic, and cutting-edge radiology updates.
