REGISTERED NURSE*
The RN is directly responsible to the Treatment Director, Mental Health Professional and Director of Nursing Registered Nurse. In his/her role, the RN will be responsible for carrying out IRTS nursing practices and services. Qualifications for this position consist of licensure as an RN in the State of Minnesota. Education, training, and experience in mental health and chemical dependency are beneficial. The RN must ensure requirements as governed by Minnesota Statutes 245I, Minnesota Statutes 148.171, Minnesota Statutes 256B.0622, Minnesota Statutes 245.472 and Minnesota Rules 9520.0500 to 9520.0690. Responsibilities include:
- Administrative duties as directed by Program Director, Director of Nursing, or Mental Health Professional.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Assist Mental Health Professional and Treatment Director with identifying and collecting program evaluation data.
- Complete required employee annual staff development and training.
- Maintain current license status while employed.
- Provide safe and effective clinical nursing care by implementing nursing interventions that are delegated, ordered, or prescribed by a licensed health care provider.
- Follow Policies and Procedures for monitoring the health of clients, including the initial health assessment to be conducted upon admission to the program.
- Provide collaboration and coordination of services with the community health care team to facilitate and implement an integrated plan of care.
- Develop nursing interventions and execution of interventions to effectively monitor client health, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing RN.
- Report health changes and responses to interventions in an ongoing manner to the Director of Nursing, a registered nurse or the appropriate licensed health care provider for delegated or assigned tasks or activities.
- Manage and assist in providing education to program staff to ensure an effective response and documentation to medical emergencies.
- Provide ongoing evaluation and interventions as appropriate to assist with client illness, medications, side effects and interactions.
- Provide individual client and group education based on client needs, related to medication, health promotion, disease prevention, care coordination, and Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) sessions.
- Provide education on medication, symptoms of mental illness, and other topics of need or interest to family members; provide individualized support and referrals for family members as appropriate and requested.
- Assist in screening referrals and admissions.
- Participate in and provide Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) training and consultation.
- Attend client review and discharge planning meetings.
- Assist in development and implementation of client individual program plans.
- Assist with evaluating program results and client aftercare.
- Monitor staff to ensure they are assisting clients with making appropriate medical and psychiatric appointments and have arranged transportation for appointments.
- Promote a safe and therapeutic environment.
Public Relations
- Develop and maintain alliances with the community at large, including:
- Public agencies.
- Private Practitioners.
- Local businesses.
- Meet requests for public speaking, advocacy groups, meetings, etc. as able and requested by the Treatment Director.

- Maintain awareness of local, state, and national affairs that concern the mental health field.
- Maintain a positive community image.
- Maintain an advocacy position for client services and rights.
- Respect client confidentiality at all times.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
