Job Summary:
The Cyber Security Specialist will lead all security activities and is responsible for the internal and external security and design of the organization’s information systems and other key technologies and will ensure Horizon’s and Horizon’s IT customers’, networks, computer hardware, and data are protected from security breaches and cyber threats. The Cyber Security Specialist will serve as our internal IT expert and support our customers with their IT as it relates to Horizon Software, Products and Services we provide to them.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Organizes and directs the security incident response team (SIRT).
- Trains members of the security team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Facilitates and manages the development, modification, and operation of security protocols including intrusion detection and prevention systems to protect the organization's information from breach or loss.
- Conducts periodic audits and due diligence checks of security protocols, evaluating systems for vulnerabilities.
- Recommends modifications to security protocols as required.
- Develops and/or provides training and guidance on acceptable use, risk management, incident response, and security protocols to employees and customers.
- Periodically briefs senior management on status of security system and protocols.
- Reviews reports of, and evaluates response to, any security incidents.
- Ensures that monitoring operations comply with all applicable government regulations and standards.
- Maintains current knowledge of emerging security threats, technical challenges, and developments in system protection and IT security standards.
Horizon-Specific Technologies and Processes:
- Amazon Server Administrator.
- VMware Administrator.
- Cloud Security Administrator.
- Serves as On-Premises Security Officer.
- Develops, Implements, and Maintains Horizon’s Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Develops, Implements, and Maintains Horizon’s Server/Workstation update plans.
- Performs 3rd Party software update routines (screen connect, backup software, Tech Excel).
- Recommends HIPAA Compliance strategies for customers (encrypted emails, Bitlocker).
- Serves as Horizon phone system administrator.
- Implements plans to safeguard computer data against accidental or unauthorized adaptation, destruction, disclosure, or other breach.
- Ensures system security; improves server and network efficiency by training users and promoting security awareness.
- Collaborates with internal users to understand and support a variety of issues and needs including data access, security violations, and programming modifications.
- Maintains anti-virus protection systems, keeping current knowledge of the latest threats and ensuring software is appropriately updated and functional.
- Adapts and updates security processes, applications, and tools to incorporate new software and correct errors.
- Coordinates and schedules the implementation of data security protocols with internal staff and outside vendors.
- Conducts risk assessments and executes tests of data processing systems to ensure proper functioning of data processing activities and security measures.
- Ensures that confidential information being transmitted is appropriately encrypted.
- Writes policies and procedures, and performs tests related to computer security and emergency measures.
- Maintains Keeper Security and assures consistency with the process to assure up-to-date and accurate information.
- Tech Excel Co-Administrator.
Customer-Specific Technologies and Processes
- IT Assessments for new, current, and potential Horizon Software Customers.
- Maintain IT Specifications/Minimum Requirements Document for Horizon Software Customers.
- Install Horizon Software and related third-party products.
- Horizon Software Update Project Manager and Perform Updates.
- Promote, Manage and Support IT Offerings (for Horizon and Horizon Customers):
- Symantec Subscriptions
- Nordic Subscriptions
- Duo Subscriptions
- Assist with IT troubleshooting related to Horizon Software and other helpful IT Support to enhance the customers’ experience.
- Assists customers with implementing backup and security plans.
- Customer Webinars, Newsletters, and other Customer Communicaitons.
Performs other Horizon- and customer-related duties as assigned including:
- Project Manager – Software Update Process
- Utilizing Project Management Tools
- Ongoing monitoring
- Continuous improvement
- Workstation Install
- Servicer Install
- Maintain Tech Excel Assets
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent management and leadership ability.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient, or able to gain proficiency with, a broad array of security software applications and tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software needed to maintain reports and records.
- Organized with attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Management, or equivalent.
- At least five years of experience in computer systems with at least three years specializing in computer security.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
