What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Horizon Lighting?
Growing and fast-paced electrical contractor is looking for a seasoned controller who has financial experience in the construction industry. In this position the Controller and will report to the President. An ideal candidate will be a result oriented, hands-on professional with the ability to deal effectively and interact well with employees and vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field or 10 years equivalent business experience
CPA desired but not required, but must have a deep understanding of US GAAP
Experience with NetSuite required
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel
Positive attitude and team player
Highly organized with strong emphasis on self-motivation and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with executive level external and internal clients
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to identify and manage priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Capable of multi-tasking and the ability to work independently
Exhibits highly developed ability to follow-up on multiple projects
Exhibits confidence, ambition, self-motivation and the ability to work independently

Responsibilities
Issue timely and complete financial statements
Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
Provide financial analyses as needed for capital investments
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed
Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
