Job description
Horizon Science Academy Dayton Downtown campus is seeking a licensed Intervention Specialist who is committed to educational success for all students. Candidate will work with support staff, classroom teachers and Related Services to provide content and intervention instruction to Kindergarten-8th grade students, design and implement academic and behavioral support programs and inclusion supports and meet sensory needs.
LOOKING FOR A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE WHO WILL:
- Develop and implement an Individualized Educational Program for each child tailored to his/her educational strengths and needs as defined through the multi-factorial evaluation, IEP process, and regular education curriculum.
- Modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
- Provide specialized instruction to students with special needs in one-on-one, small-group, or inclusion settings in accordance with their IEPs.
- Support the achievement of unidentified students by providing interventions as requested by other school staff with parent permission.
- Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and a positive self-image.
- Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of IEP students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curriculum as necessary, and assisting the student with class assignments.
- Complete required reports and record keeping as mandated by state and local policies and procedures.
- Communicate regularly with parents and staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of IEP students.
- Participate in professional growth activities through staff development, workshops, and higher education.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Demonstrate flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned.
- Lead the Special Education Team and mentor new Intervention Specialists
- Work with EMIS coordinator to ensure all state reporting is accurate and timely
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Ohio certification/licensure in special education.
- Previous experience in special education preferred.
- Experience mentoring or coaching
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience. HSADD also offers tuition Reimbursement up to $3000 per year, moving expenses up to $2,500, and ample professional development opportunities.
