What will my day look like?

- Reviews all admission documents such as medical health history, current physical exam, medication lists, and labs
- Works with admission team to follow up with referral agencies in order to obtain necessary admission documents, such as updated MAR and PPD
- Reviews labs for completeness
- Is responsible for preparing all necessary consents
- Is responsible to complete all nursing assessments due at admission into a residential setting
- Must assess incoming patients as being safe for admission
- Must obtain and preform COVID screen and antigen testing as per DOH guidance
- Will be required to utilize Healthelink to review documents as needed
- Reviews and verifies medication list, enter into electronic Medication Administration Record (MAR)
- Stages medications to providers
- Verifies scheduled medical appointments and/or schedule any medical appointments as needed for incoming patients
- Assists nursing team with daily duties such as med pass, triage injuries and illness, follow up with medical appointments and orders, assist with discharges, managing the health office as needed
- Develops professional interpersonal relationships with the members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families.
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings and mandatory in-services. Provides appropriate ideas and suggestions to improve the process or operations of the facility.
- Follows physician/provider orders and recommendations for medical treatment of patients.
- Provides a safe environment for patients, staff, and families and considers safety in all interactions.
- Identifies and triages medical emergencies and secures appropriate medical treatment for patients, family, or staff.
- Attends educational conferences and webinars and seeks out opportunities for professional growth and development including attainment of advanced degrees and certifications.
- Demonstrates proper procedure and technique during testing of urine toxicology and HCG samples, obtaining point of care samples

What has prepared me for this opportunity? (Besides all the hard work you have put in the field…)
Experience:
- Valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse License along with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university - required.
- 2 years of clinical experience required.
- Experience working with mental health and substance use disorder patients preferred.
- Must demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in the administration of all ordered medications and knowledge of appropriate use of medication and adverse effects.
- Must be proficient in computer skills, typing, navigating an EMR, MS Office.
Location
This position is located at our Residential facility - 6301 Inducon Dr. East, Sanborn NY.
Hours
This position is full time; Monday through Friday from 7:00am – 3:00pm with every 3rd weekend shifts.
Compensation:
Horizon is consistently evaluating our compensation and benefit packages to ensure we remain competitive. The range of pay for this position is $38.55 - $43.15. Starting pay may be impacted based on experience and education. Compensation adjustments are evaluated annually.
Registered Nurse Recruitment Bonus Program
Eligible Hires and Payment Structure:
- Full Time Registered Nurse hires will receive $750 after 30 days of continuously working and another $750 after 6 months of continuously working for a total bonus of $1,500.
- Part Time Registered Nurse hires will receive $375 after 30 days of continuously working and another $375 after 6 months of continuously working for a total bonus of $750.
- Per Diem Registered Nurse hires will receive $200 after 30 days of continuously working and $175 after 6 months of continuously working for a total bonus of $375.
Physical demands associated with this position include:
- Stationary posture with frequent standing/sitting alternation
- Mobility between nearby worksites and within facilities
- Mobility required involving repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements
- Lifting objects up to 20 pounds
