Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Drafting and Estimating Team Lead to join our team. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership experience, and a proactive mindset to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our drafting and estimating processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blueprint Analysis: Ability to read and interpret residential floorplans, including door swings, window sizes, roof pitch, and other architectural details.
- Material Takeoffs: Perform takeoffs for various materials such as concrete, framing, drywall, roofing, masonry, and interior trim.
- Technical Drafting: Create comprehensive residential floorplans, including foundation, floor, roof, electrical, and elevation plans.
- Detail Drafting: Draft detailed designs for built-in cabinets, fireplaces, elevation options, foundation and footing details, wall sections, and framing.
- Digital Tools Proficiency: Utilize software such as Excel, Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams efficiently. Experience with specific drafting or estimating software (such as Revit Architecture by Autodesk) is highly desirable.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively with team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Vendor Communication: Communicate effectively with vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail and Organization: Spot and address potential issues, ensuring accurate and thorough reporting. Maintain organized tools and documentation for field and shop operations.
- Time Management: Handle appointments and tasks efficiently to stay on schedule.
- Process Improvement: Refine department workflows to reduce reliance on paper and adopt more digital solutions.
- Training: Promote a culture of learning and development by providing constructive feedback and guiding team members to enhance their skills and processes.
- Plan Efficiency: Draft plans with a clear understanding of how they integrate into the building process.
Qualifications:
- Management or team lead experience.
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Commercial or residential estimating experience.
- Prior experience as a drafter or a degree/certification in drafting or a related field.
Preferred:
- Strong technical drawing skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of architectural or engineering principles and practices.
- Familiarity with construction methods and materials.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with Revit Architecture by Autodesk or similar drafting software.
