We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Life Skills Instructor to provide individualized learning experiences for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role focuses on teaching life skills, social development, and fostering independence in a supportive and engaging environment.
Salary: $45,000 - 48,000 per year (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging, hands-on lesson plans tailored to different learning styles.
- Teach life skills, communication, and social interaction to promote independence.
- Use positive behavior support strategies to encourage self-regulation and interpersonal skills.
- Monitor individual progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
- Foster confidence, self-advocacy, and decision-making in daily life.
- Collaborate with families and team members to ensure consistent support.
- Implement and track Individualized Support Plan (ISP) goals for skill development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Special Education certification preferred).
- Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including autism.
- Strong skills in adaptive learning, behavior support, and life skills training.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and positive behavior support strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with individuals, families, and team members.
- Patient, compassionate, and respectful teaching approach.
